  1. Itโ€™s been 2 years since I started getting interested in skincare ๐Ÿฅณ. In terms of differences between year one versus year two, Iโ€™ve noticed that Iโ€™ve gotten less influenced by new products and have gotten more cautious and critical when reading reviews and brand claims. Everything feels a little less WOW SHINY but I definitely still get excited seeing AB items in real life especially at Costco even if I find products I don’t have interest in using. TJ Maxx shelves are still exciting little treasure hunts!

I do think in the second year, I am a little less adventurous and my routine is more barebonesโ€ฆ I got a little tired of trying new things and breaking out from them though that didn’t stop me from trying a decent amount of new products ๐Ÿ‘€ Because of this, I think thereโ€™s been a lot less reaction snafus this year. Part of it may be from being much more conservative with ingredients now that I know what I should avoid. Another part is that I feel like with the actives, my skin is less clog-prone.

This year my skin finally adapted to using adapalene 0.1% (the culprits were other products that were wrecking my barrier) and I can use it pretty much daily with no issues. My barrier was very sad during year one so this was a very welcome change. Last year it took me the whole year to finish one 15 mg tube and then the next 15 mg tube only took 3 months! So I graduated to the big 45 mg tube after that.

    # BACKGROUND
**Skin Profile:** late 20โ€™s combo skin with oily T-zone and normal cheeks. Sensitive and clog-prone. I tend to get white heads around my chin and nose that leave PIE (post-inflammatory erythema), although I did get a pimple on my cheek that left a hyperpigmentation mark instead! I donโ€™t wear makeup so I wonโ€™t be able to chime in about how products layer with makeup. Have allergies to plants. I am taking the oral contraceptive pill.

**Climate:** rather mild and humid winters with frequent rain, mild summers.

**Skin Goals**: healthy skin, protect from sun! continuing to avoid fragrance/essential oils, giving myself grace for a breakout, being realistic with what is achievable and what is social media/marketing. Also looking for water-resistant sunscreen that doesnโ€™t break me out :โ€™).

**Current Routine**: AM – wash face with water, moisturize, azelaic acid, sunscreen
PM – wash face with cleanser, moisturize, adapalene

All products reviewed are fragrance free.
