So as you guys can see, my chest and hands/face,seems like they're two different persons. I've never used sunscreen before. My hands and face are kind of dark brown and my body and legs are kind of Pale. So,a few weeks ago I started using sunscreen but I don't see much differences, like yeah my skin colour remained constant unlike before which was getting darker and darker. How can I my even and original skin tone ?I've tried niacinamide but it didn't work,I tried vitamin c serum ,it decreased a shade and when I stopped using again it became dark brown. Please help.

  1. Sunscreen only prevents further damage, Gigi bf n you skin a chance to naturally heal. You can watch [this video](https://youtu.be/dluiyNPRHQk?si=-CW9hIt8QGv-xMjd) about dark spots but fading a tan is basically the same, and actually much easier than fading sun spots. If the video takes too much effort, look for products with these ingredients to help fade your tan. Remember to keep using sunscreen, most of these active ingredients can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight so it’s even more important to keep up the sunscreen use.

You can not really get β€œrid of” a tan without bleaching your skin (witch i do not recommend to do). The tan itself is skin damage. If you use niacinamide, and use spf 50 daily, your skin will β€œfade” with time, try exfoliating weekly to help the dead skin removal and use spf to protect it from more sun damage. You have to give it time

this kinda highlights how uneven melanin response can be depending on UV exposure patterns, not just sunscreen use, if your face/hands were more exposed over time, even casually, the melanocytes there might’ve been in overdrive while the rest of your body stayed protected under clothes, I don’t think it’s just about lightening now, it’s more like rebalancing, slowly, with sun protection staying consistent, maybe layering with arbutin or azelaic acid instead of jumping between things

  4. I tan really easy so I’ve been both skin depths before (loved to swim for hours as a kid), though it’s been years since my skin’s been the same as the first picture. So take my estimate with a grain of salt! Since I was pretty young then, all my skincare involved was cleanser + simple moisturizer with no actives. But from what I remember it would take me a year or so for my skin to fade back to my lightest shade naturally. A few weeks isn’t going to make a noticeable dent to years of direct sun exposure. Patience is key.Β

Keep on with the sunscreen to help avoid more tanning. But also if you can, wide brimmed hats and long-sleeved shirts (along with generally staying out of direct sunlight or using a UV umbrella if you’re outside) is more important than slathering on the sunscreen but not doing any other thing.
