So I kinda messed up and didn't order more Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV on time and I'm almost out.
I noticed that Oomomo (a local store we have in Canada that sells Japanese stuff) appeared to sell it, so I called one of the stores to check if they have any at that location so they could hold one for me to pick up tomorrow.
The guy said they have it, but it apparently doesn't say UV on the package (wtf?).
I noticed that it's like that on their website too, but I figured they had just purposefully omitted the "UV" from the name, photoshopped the image, and covered part of the packaging with a sticker or something since they cannot technically sell this sunscreen in Canada. I've seen other Canadian stores do this before for sunscreens with unapproved filters.
So I asked him if there's a sticker covering part of the packaging, but he said no so I'm super confused. As far as I know, a non UV version of this product doesn't exist (cause it's literally a sunscreen).
What do you guys think is going on here? Is he mistaken about there being no sticker or something? Does a weird non UV version exist?
I'm not sure if I should try going to see for myself, but the store is somewhat far from me. I could try calling the other location in my province too, but there's only those 2 and they're both somewhat far, so idk what to do if the other location says the same thing, and I really need my sunscreen. ðŸ˜ðŸ’€

The 2nd generation UV filters are not permitted in the US or Canada both are behind the times so sometimes as a way to skirt around that manufacturers will remove the SPF labeling to sell their products in other markets. I’m not saying that’s what’s going on here but it’s very likely you try comparing the ingredients to see if there are indeed UV filters in this version
Most likely it is purposely omitted and the worker doesn’t know. If you will be driving up to the area then might as well check out other shops in the area if it’s the one in FMP.
The Best Shop has a CIYO in it, Langham Square has a few beauty shops, Commerce Gate has Lamour, Dennison plaza has Beauty Garden, Markville Mall has Sukoshi and Kiokii And, obviously Pacific Mall as well and Jtown.
Yes, it should be fine (at least with regards to the lack of UV labeling). The Canmake US website mentions they did that exactly—removed the UV label to sell it without modifying the formulation.
omg i restocked on mine at my local shop too and i thought i bought the wrong thing because it doesn’t say UV on it.. i thought i bought the wrong product and i couldn’t really find anything online at the time
There’s UV and there’s some in stock in Oomomo. I think for some legal issues they can’t say it. But when I was out and about for 10 hours and I applied this, I did not get burned! Also I saw only 4 in stock in the location at Highway 7.
