Trying to figure out which ones work for which skin types!!

Types of Sunscreens: Chemical vs. Physical

    • Chemical Sunscreens: These absorb UV rays and convert them into heat. Think of them as your secret agents, stealthily protecting your skin without leaving any residue. Look for ingredients like avobenzone, octinoxate, and oxybenzone.
    • Physical Sunscreens: These bad boys sit on top of your skin and deflect UV rays like a shield. The dynamic duo here is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Perfect for sensitive skin!

    Key Ingredients to Look For

    • Niacinamide: This wonder ingredient not only brightens your skin but also strengthens the barrier and reduces inflammation. Win-win!
    • Centella Asiatica: Known as “cica,” this soothing plant extract calms redness and heals the skin. Perfect for the sensitive souls.
    • Hyaluronic Acid: Keeps your skin plump and hydrated. Dry skin? Never heard of her.

    Texture Preferences

    • Gel Formulas: Lightweight and perfect for oily or acne-prone skin. They absorb quickly without a greasy feel.
    • Cream Formulas: Hydrating and suitable for dry or mature skin. These provide that dewy glow everyone’s raving about.
    • Stick Formulas: Portable and mess-free. Great for reapplying throughout the day without getting your hands dirty.

this is helpful but beware of the cosrx aloe sunscreen it pills BAD and has an interesting smell so it might not be calming for some

    2. The one you will wear. It’s no point having a sunscreen if you hate everything about it so don’t wear it.

    3. Chemical sunscreen works the same way as physical sunscreen – by blocking and reflecting UV. The info you posted is old and has been debunked many times. In fact, many EU and Asian chemical sunscreen have better UVA protection due to the new filters used. The amount of niacinamide and centella probably won’t matter because the chemical sunscreen must sit on your skin like a shield, the same as physical sunscreen.

The best sunscreen is the one you will wear everyday and have no issues reapplying the correct 1/4 teaspoon. Water and sweat resistant, and friction resistant means the sunscreen is less likely to be rubbed off or sweated off, leaving skin unprotected.

Stick sunscreen requires multiple swipes at the same area / site to get the stated protection. I overstated the amount in the past. I believe you need 5 passes on the same area, but even that isn’t guaranteed to be 2mg/cm^(2) It is difficult to get full even coverage with stick sunscreen. Sometimes the sunstick rubs itself off as well.
