Given we’re halfway through the year, I wanted to do a review of my recent empties. For reference, I have combo skin with active acne and some scarring and hyperpigmentation issues. I do splurge a bit on skincare, so some of these items are on the pricier end of the spectrum.
Cosrx BHA
* I generally use it in the morning, and have been using this for the last 1.5 years. I never went through purging with this, but I have noticed fewer blackheads and clogged pores since.
* It’s very lightweight and feels like water. When I stop using it for a week or more, I definitely see more clogged pores and blackheads popping up.
* 5/5 WRP
Sulwhasoo Oil Cleanser
* This is 100% my go-to oil cleanser when I’m at home and not travelling. It smells wonderful and not overly hanbang-like. It gets off all my makeup easily and smoothly and feels very nice for a short facial massage too.
* That being said, it is quite pricey, but don’t need that much product each time either.
* 4.5/5 WRP
Hada Labo GokuJyun Lotion
* I’ve been using this now for 3+ years, and I go through a bottle every 3-4 months. It’s fantastic to layer on and especially on drier days, I’ll do a few layers of this to be sure. It’s incredibly lightweight, and I do intend to try the premium and arbutin ones later on.
* Price-wise, it’s quite economical and excellent to fix small makeup spots etc. as a hydrating toner almost
* 5/5 WRP
Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Serum
* I picked this ~2 months ago on a whim after seeing so many reviews, but didn’t have too high hopes to be honest. I don’t love that the bottle is plastic and the last drops are hard to get out with the dropper.
* That being said, it is very effective and I use this at night, after my Vitamin C. It’s quick and very effective especially with any red spots and protects/repairs weaker skin patches. Also phenomenal with any flareups. The texture is very lightweight especially for a healing serum and doesn’t feel sticky at all surprisingly.
* That being said, it is pricey for a small bottle, but I would pick it up on sale.
* 4/5 MWRP
Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30-Day Miracle Toner
* It’s taken me ~1.5 years to get through this bottle. I find the smell a little medicinal for some reason, but it’s great for in-between moments. For instance between a workout session and my nightly skincare routine.
* Very lightweight and absorbs quickly though, no tingly nothing at all, very gentle
* 2/5 WNRP only because of the smell
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum
* HG status for me and I’ve continually repurchased this now for 3+ years
* I’ve found it amazing with helping absorption of other products and I use it as a pseudo-toner as well in the morning before my sunscreen and makeup. For reference, I need my makeup to last 12+ hours, so it is super helpful with that as well
* It calms red spots and inflammation and is very soothing on the skin, it absorbs quickly and is very gentle overall – truly nothing bad to say about this products
* 5/5 WRP
