I visited Japan and stocked up on too many things.

I came across these palettes from MilleFée and was a sucker for the packaging. I’m pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation on the darker colors and…glitter. Oh god there’s so much glitter. The lighter multi-color shades are packed with glitter. Overall quite happy with my purchase, it was about $10 USD at Don Quijote which is the cheapest I’ve seen it anywhere.

These palettes were inspired by Monet paintings.

Curious to know if anyone has purchased something solely for the packaging only to be surprised by the quality!

In the past when I’ve been disappointed by a purchase due to beautiful packaging, I’d take out the product and replace it with something I actually like.

    1. just wanted to say these palettes are a work of art, they’re beautiful!!!

otherwise for me, not so much for beauty products but I do get influenced by pretty packaging for fragrances I think :’)

    2. i value pretty packaging and aesthetic just as highly as formula and shade; makeup is about expression, pleasure, personal indulgence, and joy to me, and there are so many gorgeous options out there that i refuse to compromise on any aspect. all three are critical criteria to me to get the most joy out of my makeup. if im not loving the packaging of something i can’t give up the formula/shade of, i’ll redecorate it or depot it into prettier packaging.

for reference, this is (most of) my collection:

as for a brand that i bought solely for packaging and then was pleasantly surprised by the quality of, it has to be flower knows. such gorgeous intricate detailed packaging, with formulas and tones that rival some of my fav established brands at such good prices.

    3. Pretty packaging gets me more than I’d like to admit. 😊😅 I have to stop my big, starry eyes from adding everything pretty in my basket when I go to any local Asian store that has cosmetics or skincare.

I find myself going for minimalist or unnecessarily pretty, like the stuff you’ve posted here. Nothing in between.
