Pics 1 & 2: Fauve Hydrangeas (thermal, solar, GITD)

I’ve been thinking for months about what to wear on vacation to LA and I just can’t decide! I’m going for the Ariana Grande concert. Considerations for vacation polish are: long lasting (I don’t want to have to redo my mani), festive for the concert, and SUMMERY. At first I was thinking the Fauve was my choice, because the thermal/solar effect would get a lot of action. But now I’m kind of feeling like it’s not summery enough. Mooncat the stolen kiss lasted a long time on me when I wore it and I feel like it fits the concert vibe. The starrily is such a juicy summery shimmer that I’m obsessed with. All 3 are some of my favorites from my collection. So now idk!

How do you choose your vacation polish? 😩

I actually choose the easiest to wear (sheer ones, usually) because I can’t be bothered to fix my polish on vacation and I hate chipped polish too much.

    2. I’ve been contemplating the same for my trip to Puerto Rico next month. I know the salt water will be tough on my nails, and I honestly don’t expect my mani to last the whole week. I’m considering bringing polish to switch to another color halfway through.

    3. The real trick is to just spend so much on polish that I can’t afford a vacation. Then I never have to be burdened with such decisions.✨

    4. first of all, my vote is for your first choice, the fauve! I actually think those shades of bright blue and purple are super summery and GITD for a big concert would be absolutely *chef’s kiss*

when I choose a vacation polish, I love the idea of going super themey. sagebrush or phantom call for the high desert, glowy midcentury pink or baby green for palm springs, a fall skittle for leaf peeping, that kind of thing. I feel like vacation is the perfect time to do too much and get a little obvious with it.

longevity-wise, for my most recent trip I did my nails the day before we left and brought a bottle of top coat to add another later after a couple days. (I also brought a file bc I wave my hands around a lot and am prone to chipping the corners of my nails.)

All are gorgeous but i would go with either of the last two. They are sparkly shifty fun but also lighter colours so if there’s chipping it won’t be so obvious

I spent weeks trying to figure out what I am wearing out on my vacation starting tonight. I ended up making my boyfriend choose 😂 he settled on The Avatar State from Mooncat

I went with glitter for my last vacation. I know it won’t be coming off anytime soon, and any chips get camouflaged by sparkles. And soak it off when I get home.

    8. Bearing in mind that I’m the sort of person who makes packing lists weeks in advance…

Going for a special event like a concert or wedding? I’d do something that coordinates with my outfit and makes me feel good.

More general vacation? I’d pick something that will go with all/most of the clothes and will be less likely to show wear/chips.

When in doubt, PANK. I tried to match an outfit last time and it made me depressed because the blue of the dress didn’t look right on my nails. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the clothing colors I like don’t always look good on my nails.

    10. I really like the first option because it would make me feel like I have several different polishes for the same trip! But absolutely go with whatever will get the most wear / be least noticeable with minor chips.

I like extra glittery formulas (ILNP Empire is my go-to for vacation) because I find the glitter is like having mixed-in plastic reinforcement to prevent chipping and sparkles are always fun.
