Help me please! I love the glass bead effect right after it’s done, but it disperses so fast. Faster than cat eye which I can get to stay lined quite well.
I magnetize for 60 seconds. I magnetize both last and top coat. It’s totally makeshift horseshoe magnet with a hair tie tied to it that I spin between my fingers 😂 Not super efficient but it gives a nice bead initially.
Should I hold it longer than 60 seconds? Attach to a battery powered stirrer/whisker maybe so the bead ends up smaller reducing the dispersion across the entire surface?
I read a base coat helps? Any recommendations? I really want to “nail” this some day!

This is:
– rose color HTB peel base
– 2 coats clionadh thermonuclear (magnetized 2nd coat)
– 2 coats VS fast & hard (magnetized 1st coat) and waited hours before second coat to get a smooth feel
Does your topcoat have toluene in it by chance? I couldn’t get magnetic particles to stay either, then I found out, via this sub, that toluene in a topcoat disperses the magnetic effect. I was using Seche Vite. I can get my magnetic effects to stay using either Mooncat Speed Demon QDTC, Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in the red bottle, or Essie Gel Couture for a really plump look.
There’s a TC called DRK Seal Glaze which is supposed to seal in your magnetic effect. However you do I believe have to also magnetize it and wait 30 minutes and apply a QDTC.
I haven’t quite gotten it to work that well though, I didn’t realize I’d have to magnetize it again with the seal glaze and it still dispersed.
It’s tough for sure. I’ve learned to like the dispersed effect too though!
My magnetics always look best when I don’t do multiple layers of the magnetic polish, then lock it down with Sally Hansen red bottle. For me that looks like some other color base, SH red bottle, completely dry, magnetic color, SH red bottle again. I can do just the magnetic coat on all ten fingers in 15 min this way!
