I do my nails with regular nail polish at home about once a week but this is a gel cat eye manicure I got in Seoul. This manicure is the reason I found this subreddit and thanks to you all I’ve started dipping my toes into the magnetic lacquer world!!

Can anyone help me identify a shade that would look similar to this?

My first purchase was Haunted’s By the Moonlight and I love the gold lift that it has but I’m really looking for this brown rather than purple. I’ve looked through this sub but it feels like a lot of brown magnetics are more shimmery. The closest I’ve seen is a poster who did ā€œANLAC Great purple emperor over two coats of Cirque's Mexican colaā€ Gorgeous but maybe darker than what I’m looking for. Also would love if there’s just one bottle I can buy over a combo but I’ll do a combo to get close to this video. Would appreciate any help!!

Edit: realized the combo I mentioned was a magnetic topper over a jelly polish so that's actually totally fine – this might be me being dense about color theory but the purple of the ANLAC shade mentioned is not computing to me.

  1. These two I have swatched and they looked like a lovely brown to me:

Bees Knees Lacquer (BKL) – A Little Knotty (this might lean a little red)
BKL – That Word Means Everything to Him

This one I don’t have but the photos also look brown/grey:
    BKL – Quiet Strength

  2. BKL Quiet Strength pulls quite brown with 3 coats on my olive-tan skin tone. Swatches online look diff with each swatcher tho!

Don’t know about the exact shade, I’ll be following the suggestions made, though!
But from what I gather, you might have some luck with the new serie of bog-like micro magnetics from BKL, Anlac or even some ILNP magnetics (I remember Velveteen or Teddy, I think, that were beautiful taupe and light brown tonals with silver magnetic shimmer).

Honestly, you might wanna grab cracked thin ice and sandwich in between a brown jelly. I think that’ll give the best result- I’ll try it and report back!

Cirque Colors has some gorgeous magnetics; my first thought was Eye of the Beholder but that may be a little dark for you. I’m sure they may have something lighter if you check out the website. And I agree with another poster that Velveteen or Teddy from ILNP may hit the mark. I’m obsessed with Teddy and just wore it the other day. Velveteen didn’t work for me because of my very deep skin tone…it made me look like I had zombie fingers, but I think it will look nice on you!
