Hello! Longtime lurker, first-time poster; if anyone would know it's you.
Anyway, I'm a guy and I've been inspired to paint my nails for the first time since I was a teenager. I already have one of the colors and top coat secured (only 1 because this was originally a different idea). I also asked someone else in the store with gorgeous nails what I should know/tips (like taking an emery to them so they absorb more ink).
My question comes because I want to do a simple design and I've only ever just done a solid fill. It's simple: on a metallic background, either a swirl or a concentric(?) circle pattern that I can only compare to [this](https://guitarpoint.de/app/uploads/products/gibson-les-paul-custom-zakk-wylde/Gibson-Zakk-Wylde-Les-Paul-Custom-ZW1503-2.jpg). I also have stereotypical dude clipped nails, if that helps to picture.
How is the best way to do it? I have a steady enough hand, but I'm unsure of the medium and want to save some trial and error. How many coats of each? What should I know? Ways to make it easier? Should I do a full coverage of the background or should I only fill in the negative space?
Thanks for helping out basically a newb!
