For context, it’s biab and I had my nails done on Tuesday so 2 days ago! I haven’t done anything crazy with my hands, I was driving when I noticed it. Is it because the tech filed around the tip of my nails after applying and curing the top coat? Does that make the product more prone to cracking or coming off?? I’m not a professional so have no idea.

I wouldn’t blame the tech on this one. It looks like you did something with your nail that caused this, sometimes even just going too close with the knife when chopping food can cause this
My products are such good quality if I file or my clients file them down it doesn’t cause this. 2 days is crazy. I would be suspect it wasn’t curing fully, or top coat is not the best. Reach out to the tech.
Tbh it looks like you’re using your nails as tools not jewels.
Your nail broke. That’s it.
It looks like she grounded down to thin
I just did the same thing. I bumped into the wall of my shower and the tip of my nail broke off.
So sorry OP, I know what it feels like.💔 😭
Your nail broke, probably by getting jammed into something hard and you didn’t realize.
The filing at the end you’re referring to is called a finish file and it not only creates a clean crisp shape, it also blends your natural nail and the product together to prevent lifting/chipping. Because of it being your thumb and it chipping off in such a large chunk with part of your natural nail also looking like it broke, it looks a lot like you pried something open with your nail.
Whenever I do someone’s nails I always remind them “Your nails are jewels, not tools”. You need to be more gentle with them or else things like this will happen. Just because your nails are stronger with product on them doesn’t mean you can be rough on them.
