Total nail polish rookie here. Wondering what’s up with the white showing at my nail tips. Like, it’s my nail growing out right? But why is it at the nail tip rather than at the cuticle? Or is it like it’s chipped a little? Feeling a bit daft and looking for tips on how to avoid this as I’m sure something in my method is wrong LOL. I did two coats of polish + glitter coat + top coat, and tried to “cap” the nail tips with polish but likely did a bad job. I didn’t do a base coat this time, as I saw somewhere that you may not need to when using essie gel couture?
Thank you for any and all tips (nail pun intended) I really want to get good and would appreciate it!!! 💝💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻😮💨😮💨

This happens to me even if I cap my tips with polish and top coat, its so annoying. I think its just the polish wearing off from living life.
It’s “tip wear”- you’ll see it more on thumb, index and middle- the fingers you use the most. Capping the polish over the ends will help, until it doesn’t!
Some people can be rough with their hands (unintentionally) and that leads to tip wear.
Some top coat shrink and leave the tip bare and easily chip-able. I am one of those people and the only way I can combat is by applying a base coat over the polish, then top coat. I also top coat again mid week for extra measure.
what top coat did you use? I use the seche vite one and it sometimes shrinks my polish like this. great quick drying top coat but it does this often.
I tried looking it up once and found that the polish may not be fully dried even though it looks or feels dry and so it slowly pushes down when you are using your hands, which is why it isn’t growth from the cuticle. Not an expert so could be wrong but it seemed logical to me because my trusted insta dri nail polish does not do this and pretty much everything else I use does 🥲
Cap the tips before applying a coat on your nail
