    1. How to get a more even application for sheer polishes?

      I did one coat of the colored nail polish. It looks a bit streaky/heavy in some places. Also my nails have ridges/lines so some polish settled there.

      I did try doing a second coat, but didn’t like the opaque look so I re-did it to one coat again

      Application: I do the sides then the middle. 3-4 strokes

      Products:

      * Sally hansen cuticle remover
      * Revlon quick dry base coat
      * Essie – 160, sugar daddy
      * Sally Hansen quick dry top coat
      * Acetone
      * Essie apricot cuticle oil
      * Nail file from the dollar store
      *

      * Sidenote: anyone have a rec for a milky pink polish? Essie’s sugar daddy is nice but i do want something more milky pink/whitish

    2. Looks a bit like your ridges are the issue. I also have prominent ridges and can’t do sheer or cremes without a ridge filler.

      Try the matte topcoat hack! It works great for temperamental sheers. I do a layer as a base under the color and in between each coat, it helps a TON for making them go on smooth instead of streaky.

      Some of it is the polishes themselves. Jellies & sheer polishes are not all created equal 🥲 Cirque is pretty well known as having fantastic jellies that self-level really well, so if you don’t apply super evenly they can kind of even themselves out. I have about 8 of them and they are pretty great and easy to use!

      It looks like you’re using very thin coats. With jelly like polishes especially (like the one in the pic) you need to apply more polish for each coat. You should never see drag marks while applying; the polish should always appear smooth and even. This is called “floating” and if you look uo “how to float nail polish” you can find some great how to vids which will probably fix this!
