  1. The problem is likely the gel you’re trying to put the chrome on. It needs to be a no-wipe top coat, but gel that’s made for chrome is your best bet. Look for a chrome/powder gel polish specifically.

  2. It’s not the chrome powder that’s making it glittery, it’s the application method and/or gel you’re using.

To get a shiny mirrored finish, you need to use a no-wipe gel, and it *has to be fully cured*. I see people recommending to cure topcoat for 10 or 15 seconds before applying chrome, but it needs to be fully cured, any tackiness will make it sparkly and not mirrored. You also need to ensure you’re using a lamp that is actually capable of curing the gel all the way through.

After you’ve rubbed the chrome in and you’re satisfied with the finish, make sure you also dust off the excess with a soft brush. Some people use a layer of base coat or bonder before top coating over the chrome, but I find that can sometimes make it more glittery/sparkly and take away some of the mirrored shine. I usually do 2 layers of topcoat over the chrome, and lightly file the free edge before the second coat, to make sure it doesn’t chip.
