I was applying Bee’s knees lacquer “Little demon” and as much as I love this polish on the hands, it looks CRAZY in the bottle!
So rainbow-y, super fine yellow to green shimmer, and a blue flash, with a dash of holo.
While you can see this ok the nail, it’s much less noticeable than in the bottle!

Oh, I had a few of those. Some looked like magic in a bottle! I ended up destashing if they’d look too different.
Ones that come to mind that I still own are Striptease, by Jen & Berries and Wonder of Nature by EDM. They’re still pretty on the nails, but much prettier in the bottle.
ILNP’s Comet. It’s the only ILNP I’ve ever destashed, and I’m still sad about it.
I bet you’ll see the flash in direct sunlight. A lot of times, lighting makes a huge difference! That said, I love it on you!
For me, some polishes that have reflective glitters but not enough of it to translate onto the nails! They look so dreamy and sparkly in the bottle but on the nail, it’s just meh!
I thought of two right away: KBShimmer Hidden Potential, and ILNP Paradox (H). I love both of these nail polishes on me. Zero complaints. Paradox is my favorite topper! But if I wasn’t worried about fading, I’d have them out for display where they catch the light, too, because they’re gorgeous.
I love opi. I have a lot of their colours but their bottle seems designed to oversell shimmers or holos in their formulas. Even when gorgeous on the nail they’re not quite as breathtaking as they are in the bottle.
Examples: Ready fete go. Turn Bright after Sunset.
Basically any multichrome bc my nails just can’t have the same curves/angles that a bottle can
I was a little let down by Hell Is Other People from Mooncat. It’s such a gorgeous deep purple but the linear holo looks slightly better in the bottle. On my nails, even in direct sunlight or under flash it just wasn’t doing it for me. Like I couldn’t really see it. I’m going to probably use it under toppers instead! I ended up putting Flakie Holo Taco over it but I wasn’t a big fan of that combo, though it could’ve been because my application was rushed and I didn’t have time to clean up. I wanted to include a picture but I don’t even have one. I took it off the same day.
Next time I’ll throw on Linear Holo Taco and see if that makes it better, I didn’t have that one yet when I tried it but yeah. I have some other fun toppers to try as well! I’m determined to make it work somehow but idk maybe I’ll like it better on its own in the fall.
ORLY Starfire 🙁 looks like multichrome flakie magic a la Mooncat Dragon Scales but takes like 6 coats to build up to what Dragon Scales looks like in 2 or 3
