I feel like everytime I go into a nail salon, no matter how high the star rating is, I feel like they always take it personal when I just want to remove my gel polish. It's always super rushed (today I was maybe in that chair for 10 minutes max) and they tend to shave down too much into my nails and almost always cut so low it hurts my hyponychium 😔 my nails don't look as red as they usually do after these appointments so I can't tell if they look bad as bad as I think they do or if this is the usual. My nails are so fragile she couldn't shape them anymore than this.

I have had builder gel on my nails consistently for about a year and the last woman who did my nails said she would be careful to not drill too much into the back of my nails when she rebased them, then dug in too much anyways, which is why I have those red lines on the back. I'm seeing new people each time, private nail artist and ones at nicer salons and no matter what, my nails never seem to catch a break 🫤

I stopped getting my nails done at salons because of this. I live in a low cost of living area, so we just don’t have truly “high end” salons near me.

My nails were paper thin and it was so painful. I do press ons at home now, which has a bit of learning curve and trial and error to find a brand with the right fit, but my nails don’t hurt anymore!

  2. Oh yea you got some ring of fire going on. You can get OPI Envy series and it does wonders, when I’m in between sets and trying to recover some health then I use that series. Also cuticle oil really does help with your nail health.

Commenting with the hope you get an answer! I have the same issue as you – no matter where I have gone, every single salon/private tech/high end spa etc I have ended up with rings of fire. My nails literally ache when I take anything off.

I’ve since sworn off any nail products altogether which sucks bc I loved how my nails looked with amazing acrylic designs. I’m just not willing to keep going through the same cycle lol

Oh my gosh do a hot oil soak with jojoba oil at night with latex gloves on. Keep a clear coat on I’ve really been enjoying the nail strengthener from nail envy as it has a sparkly pink to it.

Yep. Time to give those nails a break and use a protective polish or hardener.

Have you ever thought about doing your nails yourself?

  6. this is normal with any kind of gel/dip/acrylic, they have to buff it down for proper application. it looks fine and it will grow out. get a nail strengthener and a good cuticle oil and let time take care of it.
