Last week, I had my nails done at a new salon that my sister recommended. I got a builder gel extension set, and within 48 hours, the extensions had started splitting. On days 3 and 4 post appointment, 3 nails had snapped off at the apex.

I got my nails done right before a work trip, so I called the salon and they told me that I could come in the following to have them redone. I called them when I got back, but they said that because it had been over a week they would not fix the nails and would not offer a refund. I’m so frustrated because I have time and location stamped photos of the nails, but because the conversations were over the phone, I can’t prove that they said they would fix them.

Do I just have to accept that I lost $65? I paid on Venmo so I can’t request a chargeback. This has been such a distressing experience, not to mention the damage that was done to my nail beds and how poor my nails looked at a professional event. Would love any advice on how to deal with this situation.

  1. I would leave a bad review on all possible platforms (like google maps) with your exact experience. Hopefully they’ll refund you in exchange of deleting the reviews

Your nails are not supposed to look like that after a week. You might have to go to a new salon take plenty of pictures of their terrible work. And then go to a new nail tech at a different salon or another independent tech. And then post the review. I would never let a client leave the salon with nails like that. Sorry you had such a poor experience there.

I normally give my clients a 72hr window if anything happens to their nails I’ll correct it but a week? No way. Youre nails also look extremely grown out also. So take the L and go get them done at a different establishment.

That’s a very poor job and definitely should have been refunded or redone. I would leave the bad review and even tell people who get their nails done about your bad experience. Word of mouth is the way to grow or break a business. When I had my nail salon many years ago I did whatever I could to keep my clients happy. I even did a nail repair at 10pm once because she was going out of town the next day and had broken 2 nails. I also had a girl working with me who was new. She did such a poor job because she was trying to be fast at doing nails. I ended up having to redo everyone’s nails for nothing because her work was so bad. Apparently these people you went to forgot that the client is always right and you need to make them happy for your business to survive.

  5. Not to be a meanie but I could see immediately that your nails grew out and it quite literally looks like you need a fill. So yeah ofc if you come back weeks later your nails look grown out there’s nothing they can do because them breaking off just could be a result of you. Not tryna discredit anything you’re saying but if you want something fixed you gotta go back right away. I’m definitely not refunding nails that I did weeks ago and looks like they’ve grown out

I can see going back within a couple days but a week later? No, they don’t know what you did to them during that week. They clearly are grown out and need a fill. They did say they would re-do them but I guarantee you they weren’t saying come back a week later. Take the loss and go somewhere else
