A friend asked me to paint him a press-on set, which I’ve never done!

He wanted a rose quartz vibe, so I thought I’d test it out on some swatch sticks I have — I’ve also never really done any art (besides an ombré attempt)…which leads me to my question: I’m using regular polishes/lacquer, and I’ve read you can thin the polish out with acetone to help with painting designs, but when I tried it seemed to just make it disappear.

Tips? Suggestions? Just looking to improve on the fading/translucency if I can! I attached a photo of the polishes I used if it’s helpful (2 groups of 4 colors each) 💕

  1. This isn’t my forte so I have no tips, but I think you did a great job! Sometimes rose quartz can look a little like bloody meat so this is already a thousand times better

  2. Instead of using acetone, which destroys lacquer, use a little nail thinner. You can also use a clear polish, not a top coat, more like a base coat or pure clear polish and do a gradient on your brush.

Wow great job! I’m going to show it to the mineral lovers at the crystal shop I frequent 😊
