For me, this solidified that it’s just a PR stunt of some sort. If Desi actually keep up with posting I would be dumbfounded (aside from her mentioning in comments she’s going to do one with Katy, which I find believable – but anything else???)

It’s a rare beauty promotion. Some youtubers are paid for the collaboration, similar to a sponsor, some are fine with just the clout they gain from it. This isn’t abnormal. I don’t care if she’s back permanently or who she did her video with, it’s a video. Watch it or don’t, it’s not that deep.
