I originally drafted a post focused on appreciation of indie palette artwork along with thoughts on beauty content, but it was removed, so I’m combining the topics here in a more straightforward way…hopefully.
I recently watched a video by Battybean ranking “spooky spring” palettes. The format came across more as a showcase of certain brands (including Gourmand Girls and Jolie Beauty) presented under a “ranking” title. It felt more like an advertisement framed as a ranking rather than an evaluation based on performance. Given the range of consumer feedback for some of these brands and palettes, it left me with some concerns about content transparency, especially when a ranking format feels closer to promotion than evaluation. Even a subscriber mentioned how disappointed she was with the Jolie palette.
Separately, while reorganizing my collection, I noticed how detailed and creative the artwork is on many indie palettes. Some feel like collector pieces due to the themes and overall design, especially compared to mainstream packaging.
I also noticed the Blend Bunny Haunt Me palette performs differently from other Blend Bunny formulas I’ve used. And not in a good way.
It would be interesting to see more brands and creators highlight the artists and design process behind palette artwork.
Happy Monday!

Showcasing palette design artists is an interesting idea in the era of many brands using A.I. slop.
For real… Specifically about that youtuber… Nomad redid the formula for a couple palettes and the brand not only mentioned it, but highlighted it as a selling point to buy the “old but new palettes”. So they have clearly(by their own account) gone through a formula upgrade. On one of her nomad videos, I commented/asked about the quality of an actual older palette, that I was pretty sure was an old formula. Instead of her saying she liked the color story and it is the old formula (something reasonable and honest), she just “lied” and said it was the same great formula and that it has always been good 🙄 soooo…I really don’t like that about her.
Yes, I love the Blend Bunny Diabla palette, from the artwork design, the formula of the shadows and the sqishiness of the palette itself!!
