Hey y’all! It’s your resident super oily girly back with another setting spray review. This time, I tested the TirTir Mask Fit Waterproof Setting Spray (pink bottle) for 4 days straight & used the exact same makeup products I did prior for the red TirTir setting spray review. I bought this myself for $15. My expectations for this setting spray were as follows:

-extends the life of my daily makeup under various conditions

-lives up to the product’s stated claims (we’ll talk about this more in a sec)

-fine mist sprayer

-natural or matte finish

-non irritating for my sensitive skin

-humidity proof

The TirTir Mask Fit Waterproof Setting Spray claims the following (directly from TirTir’s site)
* 24-Hour Long-Lasting HoldProvides an ultra-durable hold to keep your makeup fresh and intact for a full day without fading or creasing.
* 4 Multi-Proof TechnologyWaterproof, sweat-proof, transfer-proof, and chlorine-proof – perfect for workouts, humid weather, and even poolside wear.
* Micro-Fine Mist ApplicationDelivers an ultra-lightweight, even layer that sets makeup without disrupting your base.
* No Irritation, Ethanol-Free FormulaGentle on the skin, free from harsh ingredients, and dermatologist-tested for a comfortable, irritation-free finish.
* Semi-Matte Finish for a Natural LookKeeps skin balanced, preventing excess shine while maintaining a healthy, natural glow.
Frankly, when I read this, I was half convinced they had read my last review, as it sounds like this spray was made for me!

Each day I reviewed this setting spray, I made sure to test it in different ways. For example, Day 1 was in a comfortably climate controlled environment. My initial thoughts were that the mist was ultra fine & the product was easy to apply. No noticeable fragrance & it dried down pretty fast without making my skin feel tight. It definitely made my makeup soft matte but without looking flat. No pilling, water droplets, or any other nonsense occurred. Frankly, I was genuinely impressed! At hour 3 of wear, I had no break through oiliness. At hour 6, I was still soft matte. At hour 9 though, I was starting to look a bit glowy, but my makeup wasn’t breaking up or melting off my face.

Day 2 was a bit more intense: I worked out for 30 minutes a few hours after applying my makeup & setting spray. I’m not a big sweat-er, but I do get oily & melty easily. Post workout, I was far less oily than I typically am, but my chin was a bit glowy. The rest of my face held up pretty well though. By hour 6, I had a bit more breakthrough oil on my chin & by hour 9 it was about the same. Again, I didn’t experience any melting. More so a bit of a glow, but not in a “my skin could give butter on the counter in summer a run for its money” sense.

Day 3 was fun: I decided to take TirTir up on their 24hr wear claim on studio day, so I was under a number of hot lights. It held up exceptionally well under the circumstances & photographed surprisingly well. Went to bed around hour 12 still looking fairly decent, but when I woke up in the morning (yes I slept with it on), my makeup was mostly melted off on my t zone & cheeks. It definitely did not hold up to the 24hr wear claim, but it gave a valiant effort.

On day 4, I tested the transfer-proof claim. While it does minimize transfer when initially applied, once humidity hits it for any real period of time, this claim falls a bit flat. Call it a pet peeve, but I really wish base makeup brands would stop claiming that their products are transfer proof. They never are for any real period of time (especially once your oils start coming through in any capacity).

Final thoughts:
To my utter surprise, I absolutely adore this setting spray! It is affordable, extends the life of your makeup for an average day’s wear, doesn’t cause any irritation, & is actually humidity proof! I wouldn’t say it lived up to the 24hr wear claim & the magical transfer proof claim is laughable at best, but so far as a normal day of wear in a hot climate on oily skin, it’s truly exceptional in the oil control department! Frankly, it is the best setting spray I’ve tried under $30. An easy 9 out of 10, which I will repurchase!

Thanks for reading y’all!

  1. For reference: I’m in my 30’s, my skin type is extremely oily, & I live in a hot humid climate. I wear a full face of makeup practically daily (all base products are matte). I used the same makeup products & skincare each day I tested this spray.

Also, I am very sorry that I couldn’t test the chlorine water claim. I called 2 resorts near me with pools & both were salt water… I tried though!
