(PR) Sharing a little Jewish joy 💙✨

  1. This manicure is one I’ve shared before, but it feels like a good day to share it again. It’s a simple Star of David design that means a lot to me. Lately it feels like even peaceful expressions of Jewish identity are being treated as controversial. My chai nail post was removed even though it broke no rules, was properly flaired, and included all the required disclosures.

At the same time, posts celebrating Palestinian culture are allowed, as they should be. But many of those posts also include rhetoric like “from the river to the sea” or the inverted triangle, both of which have violent and extremist meanings. If those are considered acceptable, why isn’t Jewish pride?

Jewish joy isn’t political. It’s about identity, resilience, and life. ✡️💅

  2. These are beautiful. Chag sameach ✡️ (For those unfamiliar with the lore, we are in the holiday of Simchat Torah where we celebrate beginning the Torah anew).

And just in case it needs to be said, because it seems to be conflated these days…
Judaism == ill will or indifference towards the Palestinian people
Supporting Jewish people == ill will towards Palestinian people
Many of us have spent the last two years aghast and heartbroken by the war’s events, while also increasingly concerned, sad, and alienated by rising anti-Semitism.

  3. A post in which I made no political statements whatsoever but merely had a Star of David visible got massively downvoted. That doesn’t feel very inclusive. Or safe.
