I don’t think I’ve used up a whole mascara in my life. I’ve worn makeup of some sort for about 20 years. (I’m 33).
How do I know it’s done? When it’s dry and crusty? Or will I not be able to get any product out? I’m not sure. I usually just toss them if they are too old. Photo for tax.

Personally I call a mascara done when there is no residue at the end of the wand and it’s too dry to coat my lashes fully/it’s too crusty.
When it is extremely dry. I kind of just ‘know’ at which point though
