I’ve been struggling with stubborn hyperpigmentation on both cheeks, right under the cheekbone area. I had pretty severe acne (acne vulgaris) about 4 years ago, went through a full course of Accutane, and thankfully the acne cleared up.

But the hyperpigmentation hasn’t faded since then. I’ve tried chemical peels, microneedling, and have been consistent with a solid skincare routine, yet the dark patches just won’t budge. The contrast is really noticeable: the skin under my eyes looks much lighter, while my cheeks remain darker.

For context, I’m Fitzpatrick type V and never picked my acne.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What treatments actually helped you fade long-term hyperpigmentation? I’ll share some photos so you can see exactly what I mean.
