It took me a year and a half to pan this NARS Sex Appeal blush. I don’t wear complex makeup every day, but when I do, this is involved. On low makeup days, which is most days, it’s tinted eyebrow gel, lip balm and this. Maybe concealer. This is the old talc laden formula. I tried the reformulation and it is traaaaaash. I could forgive the texture which isn’t the worst but the color. So bad. In me, the original version goes on as a desaturated pale opaque peachy tone that reduces undereye dark circles, evens out my skintone a little and leaves a gentle matte glow. The new version is just sheer orange that’s still somehow chalky. I tried the new versions of this and NARS Impassioned which was also terrible: sheer chalky bubblegum pink. I scored this replacement barely used on Mercari. Would buy repeatedly but looking to find a dupe as eventually the deadstock and gentle use ones will vanish. I’m Tarte Shape Tape 27S-35N depending on the season for skintone reference.

    1. I’ve found that there’s some sort of layer on the Nars blushes that needs to be gotten through before you get to the better color and payoff. I had bought the new Impassioned and was incredibly disappointed – it did not show up on me AT ALL in spite of me being pale. I almost returned it.

After a few uses, though, I got through that layer and it’s a lot better. It’s perfect now.
