tw: mention of self harm
Today on LinsMakeupLooks IG story, she posted a message about the brand My Violet unfairly firing one of their employees who Lindsey considers a good friend. According to what I've seen, people are alleging My Violet and it's owners/execs bullied, overworked, and underpaid this employee to the point where they tried to self cancel, and then My Violet fired them after they got out of the hospital. Some people are posting that has happened to other employees before.
The employee @bbyexcellent (they/them) has shared a lot on their story of other people posting about supporting them and calling out My Violet and @prettysourlaura (creative director of My Violet).
@sailorsappho on IG has posted some recordings of @bbyexcellent's live where they explained what happened. It looks like My Violet is deleting bad comments on IG, because none of their recent posts have any.
If you've watched Lindsey, you know so much of her wardrobe is My Violet, so seeing her post really surprised me. It's such a beautiful and unique line. I'm really disappointed to see such bad treatment of employees from them.

This situation is all of my insta atm. Its so upsetting seeing Excellent treated this way, especially since most people think of them when they think of My Violet. I know I for sure do. I posted a comment on the official insta and when I woke up this morning it was deleted, as were several of my friends. I think Laura has gone private too.
I know people within the wider alt pastel community really dislike Laura but I had no idea why, I guess this is it. There was also a situation a few years back when they collabed with Pixielocks and people were upset about it. Both for the subject of the collab and apparently the quality of the garments were bad. There were allegations about aliexpress reselling for a while too(I don’t personally believe that, but some people said the quality was basically shein early on) regardless, its a very sad situation for Excellent and I wish them nothing but the best.
I saw this yesterday on Lindsey’s story too and tried to do some investigating. Like she said, for Lins to post something negative about them is absolutely shocking to me. I hope everything works out for the best.
it kinda sucks (and I understand why bc as an influencer who a lot of people look to the style of i think) that she has to get rid of them or at least tiptoe around showing/only wear personally (which is prob hard depending on how often she makes videos) bc obv it’s more sustainable to keep and just not purchase but I get it. I hope excellent is doing better now, firing someone after they’re hospitalized for an attempt is abhorrent.
