I’ve been feeling a little frustrated about my nails lately and was hoping someone here could help.

All ten of my fingernails grow in slightly different shapes — some curve to the side, some are flatter, and a few are just oddly angled. I’ve always wanted that clean, natural oval shape —where the nails are long, even, and you can see a nice pink nail bed with a subtle white tip. But mine feel far from that.

One of the reasons my nail shape gets worse is my cutting habit: whenever I trim my nails, I tend to cut a bit too deep. I really don’t like seeing that little leftover white edge — even if I file my nails into a shape, the tiny white bit still looks off or “weird” on my hands, so I just trim it all off. But this ends up making my nails grow out in inconsistent shapes, and I feel like I’m making it worse without meaning to.

So here’s what I’d love advice on:
• Can nail shape actually be corrected over time?
• Are there habits or techniques that helped you grow out and reshape uneven nails?
• Can filing alone gradually shift growth direction?
• What’s the best way to stop cutting too deep and still keep nails looking clean?

If you’ve experienced this, or if you’re a nail tech or just someone with advice, I’d be so grateful to hear your thoughts. 💅
Thanks in advance for reading.

i have the same exact issue with my nails 🙂 luckily for me i like darker colors so i simply let my nails grow/apply nail extensions and paint them to be opaque so nobody can tell 🙂 as for when you dont enjoy polish and/or longer nails, i suggest simply applying a sheer polish (i know, i know) but a sheer ‘skin tone’ polish will make your nails appear more even in color, hopefully letting the uneven shapes bother you less (with proper shaping ofc) 🙂
