I think it’s more giving a sense that what they’re using is more “natural”, people are more familiar with rice or red beans for example and know they’re safe to eat so therefore they’ll assume it’s safe and good for the skin too? Maybe that’s the idea brands are going for idk

I think it’s a good attempt in terms of adding some natural ingredients, however, I agree with you on that it makes me confused when I try to buy something as I don’t know if rice is better than oranges, lemons or pumpkins

They treat those products at laboratories, so dont try it at home. And also dont believe , because sometimes its fake marketing

OP I can only assume you’re not Asian because rice is a literal staple in our beauty since…..forever? Vegetable/grain/fruit/herb extracts in cleansers (and honestly, in every skincare steps, and even haircare) are practically the beauty traditions.
Even Western beauty has a long history of incorporating plants with antimicrobial/antibacterial properties in skincare, especially cleansing products. Like, hello witch hazel, rosemary, tea tree oil, etc.
With that being said, those ultra-stretchy cleansers are definitely the products of TikTok/social media marketing gimmicks, but even then cleansers with mozzarella consistency isn’t new. The OGs would remember Senka Perfect Whip, which has never gone away lol.
