I've been on adapalene for the last couple of months and have been downscaling my routine to local products for sensitive skin. However, lately my skin has been very dehydrated, flaky, and sensitive, and none of my products have helped, so I decided to go back to a k-beauty routine to see if it could help. How'd I do? Do you have any suggestions for oil and water-based cleansers to try?

I ordered from Olive Young Global for the first time, and was hit with import taxes. Curious, I decided to compare prices to see how hard I had been hit, and I was astonished by the results! I did buy these in 1+1 sets with a sale going on, but this is quite normal when shopping on OY.

I've set up a table comparing the prices for a single item from a Danish webshop, the price for a "similar" set, and the price I paid on OY. The first table is in DKK while the other is in USD. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves.

To make matters worse, the BOJ set included three sunscreens and two travel sizes. The Dokdo toner is also 300ml, while the Danish shop only sells the 200ml version.

Conclusion: It is quite literally much cheaper for me to buy from Olive Young and get hit by import taxes than it is to buy it in my own country. Interesting perspective.

    1. In my non-European country, sometimes certain brands have exclusive contracts with a certain importer, and the importer tend to have a pretty high markup on their imported products.

If you are willing to wait longer for your package, you can also shop from other Asian platforms like Yesstyle. Many items tend to be cheaper on there than OY, but some items are strangely more expensive. I tend to price compare each item from each platform, do my best to stack as many codes as possible, and buy the cheaper item from the cheaper platform.

I’d also encourage looking up your country’s import duties rules and see there is a threshold below which some packages won’t be hit with duties at all. My country has a duty free limit of 6 packages every 6 months under ~US$60 so I take full advantage of that.
