Romand finally released a true BLACK lip trio and of course I had to get my hands on it! the products included in this trio are (from right to left in the first photo):

    1. Lip Mate Pencil Mini in 01 Black Shade
    2. Blur Fudge Tint in 19 Licorice Jelly
    3. The Juicy Lasting Tint in 25 Black Berry

In the second picture I have swatched these products on my arm. The subsequent photos show how the tints look on my lips, how they stain, and how all three products look together!

The Blur Fudge Tint gives the best matte black color on the lips, though you need to build up product to achieve a true opaque look. However, I do not find that it feels heavy on the lips after three coats. It actually feels really comfortable. The stain leaves something to be desired, since it seemed rather patchy. Though that might be a problem with how I removed it. I’ve never tried this formula before but I’m happy with it!

This is also my first time trying the reformulation of the Juicy Lasting Tint (one of my favorite K-beauty tints) and it doesn’t feel that much different than the original. The new version is slightly thinner on the lips and a bit glossier as well. This particular color does not stain as well as some other colors within the range. My sister recently got Grape Bomb from this range and it STAINS. However the stain seems pretty even overall. I think you could use this as a standalone gloss or to deepen other lip colors.

The lip liner included in this trio is fine. It is really small (even for me, who has small hands) but I like how thin and precise it is. Not a must have by any means.

I’m pretty happy with this set since I don’t frequently wear black lipstick, but I don’t know if it would be good for people who need long lasting, opaque black lip products. I’m glad that Romand is making interesting and fun colors in AB formulas though! Hopefully these lead to more dark lip colors in the future!

Have you tried layering Black Berry on top of other lip products to make them darker and dull? Or do you think it will all end up looking just black?
