Quoted from Odile Monod's Twitter account:

"The South Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) recently reviewed advertisements for microneedling and spicule cosmetics. They found that 82 out of 100 of the ads examined did not comply with Korean advertising standards.

The problematic ads made claims about skin regeneration, cell repair, detoxification, and immune enhancement. The MFDS determined these claims were misleading or exaggerated, as they suggested these cosmetics function like medical devices or have effects beyond standard cosmetic use.

Microneedles, which are often used in drugs and medical devices for drug delivery, are sometimes incorporated into cosmetics in the form of tiny needle-shaped components such as spicules to enhance absorption.

However, the MFDS noted that these products are often promoted as being able to penetrate deeper layers of the skin and provide drug-like benefits. This has raised concerns about potential consumer deception and misleading claims.

The MFDS is taking action to address these issues and protect consumers from false claims."
