They came in and boy howdy are they tiny. I didn't really think about how small 12g really is. I suppose I should be grateful that they're only 12g since I don't like either color and both of them look terrible on me despite being a cool tone. I wasn't able to get my hands on the bundles with the mini lip glosses (TT) and I'm not really wild about buying another set of 2 more of these just for lip glosses…unless those glosses turn out to be really, really good. But I'm not sure where you can find them as the places I've seen them sold are only selling the tints themselves, not the sets with the lip glosses.

I took theses on a Samsung S21 so keep in mind that the photos will lean a bit to the warm end of the spectrum. I've found that most of the time the closest to what I see with my eyes in natural (non-direct) lighting is usually the bright lighting swatch.

40 – Black sapphire – rather than purple, goes more to the black/brown shade on me than I was expecting, which was disappointing. I was expecting a deep purple or plum wine color (similar to what I get at the end of the day after using Peeling angdoo just more cool toned). After oxidization it did finally settle into a sort of a patchy/ashy merlot color. Disappointing =(

The formula for Black sapphire feels different from their regular JLT line. It feels thinner, more buttery/waxy? I'm not loving it personally as it made applying a single even coat of black sapphire practically impossible. There's also some piling that happened rather quickly (within the span of less than 2 hours) which I've never noticed happen in a JLT tint so quickly and I hadn't had anything to eat or drink.

41 – Like a plum – is very fuchsia. I think both swatches this time came out pretty accurately as like a plum is pretty bright. It's not neon level but but it's a lot brighter than I expected. It reminds me of the fuchsia pink that comes out of the cactus flowers that are little round blobs? Or a prickly pear cactus flower fuchsia.

As far as applying, the formula for Like a plum feels like the regular JLT line and is easy to apply one coat evenly but it does feel more buttery/waxy after it sits on your lips for a bit compared to other formulas. It's a bit difficult to explain. I think whatever they added to make it more slick is causing the pigment to pill much faster if you rub your lips together a lot. It's not nearly as noticeable in like a plum because it was easier to apply an even coat and the color hides it with how vivid it is, but that's not the same with black sapphire as it was pretty obvious. As it oxidizes, it goes more magenta, also a color I do not think is flattering on me so more confirmation that this isn't a shade for me. It's actually a gorgeous jewel tone, berry colored magenta, it's just not for me.

I wouldn't purchase these again 😀 I only bought them because I'm a cool tone and love me some purple tints (light, dark, give me them all~!) and shades of red…except for shades of fuchsia lol But I do wish Rom&nd would release all their tints in the 12g form tbh. That way I could buy them all and not feel as guilty when I hate a shade on me that I have a full tube that I used once and am never going to use again.
