I was in Japan for 3 weeks and instead of packing skincare I decided wanted to try out some products there. I actually held myself back from bringing back more because I was worried about overweight luggage, but it turns out I was still 6kg underweight (oh well!) Some of these I bought duty free and haven’t tried but I’ll give reviews of what I have. For reference: 29F, combo skin with occasional hormonal acne

    1. Boire Aqua Rich Sunscreen – I’ve used the American version of this which unfortunately pills pretty bad. The Japanese version doesn’t pill and is essentially a perfect sunscreen – no white cast, not greasy, just amazing. HG product for sure.

Naturie Skin Conditioner – super watery but I like how cheap it was, judging by how little I’ve gone through it seems it will last a long time! Looking forward to trying the moisturizer.

Melano CC Brightening Milk – good consistency and feels nice on my skin, but unfortunately no noticeable difference from old acne marks / uneven skin tone yet which I was hoping for. I did buy the more concentrated essence so hoping that one will work!

Hado Labo Gokujun Premium – I was so excited for this one but I think it broke me out 🙁 to be fair I started using this PM and the melano CC AM at the same time, but when I cut this out my skin cleared up. I may give it another shot after I finish the melano CC. I read the new formulation isn’t fungal acne safe so it might just be a bust 🙁

Choi! Face Wash – I had never heard of this but just bought it at the drugstore because it was cheap. After reading Japanese reviews on Amazon apparently people also use it for underarm odor as well – which I found it does actually help with! A good blind buy.

Kracie Niave Face Wash (Peach) – I’ve used this before in the US. Dirt cheap in Japan – I think it was like 300 yen so only $2 USD! I can’t believe it sells for $10 USD on Amazon. A good simple, non drying face wash but I personally find the fragrance pretty strong if you’re sensitive to that.

Shisedo Fino Hair Mask – super thick and I love the ‘clean’ smell. Other than that it’s a pretty standard hair mask.

Kose Under Eye Cream – goes on REALLY thick and white even if you only use a little – for that reason I can only use it PM. No noticeable difference but I love the cute packaging 🥺

Kose Sheet Mask – good, standard moisturizing face mask. Nothing special but again, cute packing 🥺🥺

Cezanne Natural Glow Cushion – I was SO hesitant to try a cushion but decided to buy one last minute at the airport. I’m happy I did! I usually only wear concealer where it’s needed and avoid foundation as it sinks into my creases, pores, and peach fuzz. This cushion offers virtually no coverage even if you layer it, but does it gives you a very natural glow as the name states. It’s subtle and not overly shiny / sparkly, and doesn’t have any of the problems I usually have with foundation. It’s nice addition to my routine!

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

edit: not sure why Reddit uploaded my image such low quality :/ if you can’t see the names and want a list lmk!
