My skin type is very dry and prone to hormonal acne on my lower face and chin area which I keep at bay with vitamin b5 and 10% benzoyl peroxide. Thanks to AB I successfully faded very stubborn PIH and currently aim for products to give me the glass skin effect and keep my skin hydrated. Here’s a quick rundown of my thoughts:

Cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion with birch sap: I’ve been using this for two weeks and there’s no skin irritation or breakouts. It’s a straightforward no nonsense moisturizer and has a slight medicinal smell with no artificial fragrance to mask it. It’s definitely not as moisturizing as the Cosrx hyaluronic acid intensive cream but that cream is VERY sticky (too sticky in fact) whereas this birch sap lotion is not sticky at all. I wish there was a moisturizer that was somewhere in the middle between these two in terms of texture and hydration power.

Missha First Treatment Essence: in a previous review I complained that I couldn’t tell what the product was supposed to do after 3 weeks. I used it for an additional two months and noticed my skin was ever so slightly more plump looking if that makes sense? It’s an extremely gentle formula that is meant to make a very gradual difference in skin texture and brightening and not at all a dramatic sudden effect so if that’s what you’re looking for this product won’t deliver. Iffy on whether I’d repurchase this.

Missha Glow Cushion: this is my first cushion ever and I’m kicking myself I waited this long to try especially when they’re just as affordable as drugstore brand foundations. I have a thorny relationship with foundations because they give me so many problems whether it’s pilling or sticking to dry flakes and accentuating them, not to mention how hard it is to find a color match that looks natural. Firstly the compact itself is beautiful, I love the pretty purple and how the cushion sits on top with a plastic cap divider separating the foundation. I copied a short video demonstration and took a small dab and lightly tapped starting from the center of my face and spread outwards. I dabbed more on a couple of dark spots and discoloration and the coverage was quite effective. True to the products name though my skin was absolutely glowing and looked luminous. My sister never comments on my skin and she said it looked really good and was surprised when I told her it was bc of my new makeup. (I got the color sand). Time to toss my other foundations which just look like dry grey paint on me.

Skin1004 hyalu-cica sun serum: so many swear by this sunscreen and I finally got my hands on multiple bottles. No white cast as advertised. Moisturizing and no breakouts. Missha cushion foundation sat beautifully on top. I’ll be wearing this every day this spring and summer. My only gripe is the expense as each bottle has less than 2 ounces of product so I’ll be going through them fast.

Ample n: peptide shot: huge bottle so you get a lot of product. The squiggly white bits are actual peptide threads and dissolve when you rub them in. It is quite moisturizing and viscous in texture. After a few weeks I noticed I got tiny whiteheads on my nose and a couple on my cheeks so I switched to using this on my neck and upper chest. Hey it’s anti-aging and I don’t want wrinkles in those areas so might as well.

Mixsoon Bean Essence: I hesitated to buy this bc it’s very pricey for a small amount of product and it seems this sub doesn’t rate it at all. But it’s extremely popular in Korea so curiosity got the best of me. After washing and applying toner I dabbed a few squirts on. Pleasant normal serum texture, added a nice glossy sheen on my face. I saw an influencer say it exfoliates if you keep rubbing with your fingertips and she had tiny balls of dead skin form as she did it. Well I tried doing that and nothing happened. I was bitterly disappointed and pumped a bit more product on my face to try again….and lo and behold there were tiny (very tiny) but hard bits of dead skin appearing under my fingers(!) I was shocked then excited bc I’ve been looking for a gentle and effective exfoliator esp for wearing makeup bc makeup clings to my dry patches and dead skin even after I use strong acid peels like the Ordinary BHA/AHA. I really really like this bean essence, huge upgrade on the snail mucin for me. Just please lower the price bc $35 for that tiny bottle is such a killjoy.

if you have hot, humid summers/tend to sweat a lot etc, then the skin1004 isn’t suitable sunscreen. I use this for the winters/spring only and then switch to Anessa sun milk for the summers.

If you already exfoliate regularly or double cleanse very often, then you won’t really see dead skin cells….unless your skin is reacting to your make up or other products.
