**Product list/description:** (From top to bottom) Merzy Bite the Beat Mellow Tint in M4 Bian Rose, Merzy Dreamy Late Night Mellow Tint in M13 Vapor Red.

**Type of swatch:** For both swatches, the top swatch is a finger swatch that is diffused towards the right side and I dabbed on more color on the left side to show full opacity. Below it is a blended out swatch to show the shade when diffused.

    **Review**

**Shades:** Bian Rose is very mauvey and when sheered out, it makes for a low-key browny purple MLBB for medium-toned goths. When you build it up, though, it pulls to a bruise-like muted wine that makes you want to glare down at people who will most likely cower at your withering gaze. Vapor Red is a true red-based red – when sheered out, it doesn’t look too warm nor too cool; I think the undertone is neutral. My squeamish friend said it reminded them of blood. Sheered out, it looks like a traditional red lip tint, and built up it looks like a classic red lip. I’ve never had a lip color this bold before and I’ve grown to love it because it flatters my skin tone and my undertones very well.

**Tint:** After applying, it leaves a noticeable stain on your lips, which made me appreciate the nuanced undertones more. It stays for hours, and I’ve had to use micellar water + oil cleanser to get them off. Since I use my pinky finger to apply them, they leave a very obvious stain that takes hours to disappear.

**Formula:** Very velvety with a silicone-y slip. It just wants to keep blending, which means a generous layer of it will definitely transfer and it’s difficult to use as a blush/eyeshadow for a wash of monotone color as it loves moving around. When applied thick, it has a satiny sheen until wiped off for a lasting matte. I don’t have problems with Bian Rose, but sometimes Vapor Red gets on my teeth and can stain the spaces between, so it pays to check on your appearance once in a while.

    **Thoughts**

I saw carorolee use [Bian Rose](https://www.instagram.com/p/CltUNJJJqxK/?igsh=aHhtdHl5bW9tb3Zk) and [Vapor Red](https://www.instagram.com/p/CpnX6m1vKMn/?igsh=MWMzZG91MTJkZXNtcg==) a year ago and I was obsessed with them the moment I saw them. I used to stay away from lip tints because my exposure to them was restricted to hot pink/red water and gel tints which didn’t flatter my warm olive medium tan skin and they also don’t give my lips even coverage at all. These velvet tints have single-handedly revived my faith in Asian beauty’s capacity to make products not only for brown makeup lovers but also for people who never outgrew their goth phase.

Merzy’s lip tint range seems to cater to alternative and vampier makeup folk, like Kaleidos and Girlcult, with an array of colors that look more nuanced than most darker lip colors from the mainstream market. I wanted to get the darker browns as well, like Cuddle Brick, but they weren’t available in Stylevana. The next time I’m in Asia, I’ll be sure to pick them up because I love this formulation. You can wear them either as a traditional Western color block or sheered out as East Asians do. I prefer the latter. If you’re going for a completely filled-in opaque lip look, expect the color to blend out of your lip lines!
