I’ve been on the search for a dewy highlighter. From what I can tell, a stick/cream highlighter is the best way to achieve the look. (Any recommendations for a dewy looking powder highlighter are appreciated!) I bought 4 different stick highlighters from YesStyle to test out! I don’t use foundation on my cheek, but I do use a balmy blush all the highlighters did move the blush a little. I did try to take a picture of each one on my cheek but they ended up looking the same in the camera – but there’s a difference irl I promise! From left to right:
– MacQueen Collagen Vit A Wrinkle Multi Balm (touted as Kahi Balm dupe) – 10g
– Holika Holika Butter Melting Highlighter – 10g
– Glint Stick High Lighter – 7g
– Unleashia Sisua Butter Glow Stick – 7g
My ranking from favorite to least favorite:
– Glint: This is the most natural looking highlight, with a good middleground of being just a balm (like a Vaseline stick) and being glittery. This is somewhat easy to apply – will drag a little but mostly buttery.
– Holika Holika: This is the most glittery one and thus most shiny. The fine glitters also seem to lean white, so I’m not sure how this will look on darker skin. From a distance, I think it still looks pretty natural on me. Very easy to apply.
– Sisua: Although it’s blue, it’s colorless when applied. It has very little glitter, so the shine is less noticeable from a distance. It also has a minty herbal smell, which I can smell when applied on me but I’m not sure others can from a conversational distance.
– MacQueen: This is purely a balm, which was expected. Consequently, it has no glitter at all. The dewiness/shine is the least noticeable, which was disappointing since it’s duping the Kahi balm which seems very shiny. It might be because it’s new, but it has the most drag when applying – which lifts blush pretty easily. If you want something dewy and lifts your makeup but applies easier, you might as well get Vaseline in a stick.
