In 2024 I resolve to do empties quartetly so I can call these Q1 2024, Q2 2024, etc.
**EMPTIES**
**Complexion**
• Kosas Tinted Face Oil (5.5): I’ve loved this stuff since it came out years ago and am sad to see that the product is now discontinued. This color is too deep for me in winter. Fortunately, I was able to use up the last bits as a mixer into other products. I also have an unopened bottle in my stash which I hope will still be good in the summer.
• Youthforia Date Night Foundation (310): This is a Credo-Beauty sample jar that contained about 10 uses of this infamous foundation. The shade range is abysmal, for sure, BUT one of the shades matched my fall/spring color which was a pleasant surprise. I liked this foundation and got compliments on my skin when wearing it, but it doesn’t have a true olive undertone so it’s not something I would run out and buy.
• Giorgio Armani Power Fabric + Foundation (4.5): The late fall/winter/early spring foundation in the neutral olive shade of my dreams, y’all. This is the sample jar from Sephora that lasted fifteen uses. I did buy a full size because it was such a perfect shade match, and the wear time is pretty good.
• Kosas Revealer Concealer (5.5): I used it all up before it went bad. I think this is the third tube I’ve panned. Have a backup of 5.5 for the summer and just purchased 3.2 for the winter as the color leaves my face. This is one of the only concealers on the market where I have a winter and a summer shade match.
**Lips**
• Victoria Beckham Posh Lip Gloss in Poolside: Honestly, one of my top 5 favorite colors of all time, but I really do not like the wand component. This one broke, just like my last one in Tanlines. I am clearly trying to scrape the sides of this tube too viciously.
• Tower28 Lip Jelly in Chill: A staple in my collection. I’ve panned at least four or five tubes in different colors. I go through them so quickly that I’ve never had one go rancid on me.
• Sanitas Redensifying Lip Complex: This was a gift from my aesthetician. Fine for at-home use but nothing I would tell people to buy, if that makes sense. It did its job but wasn’t a miracle or anything.
• Ami Cole Lip Treatment Oil in Excellence: I want to be nice because I want Ami Cole to succeed as a brand, but I think this was going bad as I was finishing it up…and I’ve only had this since April! This brown is too cool toned for me to use in summer but looked nice in the fall/winter. I will not be repurchasing because I can’t use up a color like this quickly enough, and it’s a bit stickier than I like for a lip oil.
• Dior Lip Glow Oil in Mahogany: HG…I’m sure the product itself is dupe-able but IMO no one has been able to get the magic combo of component + formula down quite like Dior. I’m going to replace with a tube of the original Lip Glow in Mahogany as well. Mahogany is my favorite color for fall/winter and Rosewood is my preferred summer color although I can wear both all year. I know enjoying the component is a dumb reason to use such a fancy product, but here I am.
• Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm in Nana: I was hate panning this TBH. I really miss the limoncello scent in the original formula. I also don’t think the wand is long enough to get all the product and find the packaging frustrating to use at the end. The product itself is nice, but not worth the trouble IMO.
• Kosasport LipFuel in Flow: I *adore* the LipFuel in Baseline (clear), but the tinted ones are a bit too tinted for their own good. It’s a bit hard to apply without a mirror because they’re too pigmented. With that being said, it’s an otherwise lovely product that I was happy to pan. It survives entire days in jeans pockets, especially inside the little coin pocket.
• Gucci Rouge A Levres Voile Sheer Lipstick in Marguerite Jade: What a gorgeous brown…it was starting to get a bit crayon-smelly so I desperately panned this to get it all. The tube is gorgeous, but it is a bit damaged from spending so much time next to my keys in my purses and all.
• Chantecaille Lip Veil in Jasmine (Giraffe Collection): I bought this without swatching first which I now deeply regret. It was a bit too bright of a peach for my personal tastes. Lovely formula with beautiful packaging, but next time I will be swatching in store before purchasing a different shade!
**Eyes**
• Too Faced Better Than Sex (Waterproof): What a piece of smudge-y junk. Maybe it’s my oily eyelids, but this was so bad on me. I used it twice and then put it away forever.
• Covergirl Last Blast (Waterproof): This is an older favorite of mine that I wanted to revisit. It’s honestly pretty decent and I used almost all of it up in four months, but I do think I have found mascaras I prefer with newer formulas.
**Perfume Samples**
• Byredo Eyes Closed: I adore the top notes of cardamom and cinnamon, as well as the carrot and ginger in the heart. Tragically, the patchouli base note is strong on me and my partner HATES the smell of patchouli. For this reason (and also because money does not grow on trees), I cannot justify purchasing a full size of this fragrance.
• Hermes Eau des Merveilles: Love the orange notes, but otherwise it’s too woody for me.
**Setting Spray**
• Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray: God-tier stuff. I love this more than I ever loved UD All-Nighter. I bought the jumbo 6.7 oz size after finishing up this one from a Sephora rewards gift set.
**PANS**
• Tower28 Bronzino in Gold Coast: So, I really don’t reach for bronzer much anymore BUT as my tan fades, there is a use for this to help recreate a bit of the tan on my forehead. With that being said, I cannot imagine myself repurchasing this item and I will probably throw out sometime this year.
• Kosas Cloud Set Powder in Comfy (deeper shade on left) and Feathery (fairer shade on right). I am unsure if I’ll be able to completely pan Comfy before it expires, but I’m working my way nicely through Feathery. I was mixing the two throughout the fall, but finally had to stop doing that during the holidays as I’d gotten too fair.
• Tower28 BeachPlease Lip & Cheek in Power Hour: Color is beautiful and I really gravitate towards it in fall/winter, but it still doesn’t get nearly as much wear as my favorite winter blushes (Tarte Paarty, Hourglass Mood Exposure, CLE Melting Lip Powder in Berry Mauve)
**EXPIRIES**
• Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation in Shade 143: This was a mixer shade which I got with Shade 213 to make my summer color. I’ve gotten fairer over the past two years and don’t need a foundation shade this deep in my collection anymore. I still have 213, which is actually a pretty good match for me on its own…it’s a tiny bit too yellow but that’s imperceptible to the majority of people.
• Kosas Lipstick in Vegas: I had noble intentions to pan this thing, but then I took it to work and kept it in my crossbody purse. By the end of the day, the formula had melted enough that the bullet literally broken in half…so clearly it did not wish to be panned. Shame, because it was one of the better beige-y nudes.
• Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer in 30N: I do think this is a good product, but wow I do not agree with their recommendation of this shade for someone who matches 230N in the foundation. I could only use this in the heart of Summer with my tan and even then it was rather peachy. I ended up using about half of the tube before it expired at the end of October 2023.
