I got just a simple bubble bath gel polish a couple of weeks ago. I showed the manicurist the first picture but the second picture is what I received. I’m not unhappy but I like how the nail line is less prominent in the sample picture. What I received is so subtle it almost looks like I just have a clear coat. This was only my second time getting my nails done and I had never heard of bubble bath prior so I just showed them the picture. What should I request differently in the future? More coats? A specific polish? TIA!

    1. In the inspo, it looks like a French ombre with the bubble bath as the neutral/pink part of the French. If you just said “I want bubble bath”, the tech may not have realized you wanted the French ombre part. Not sure if that’s how it went down. I know you showed them the pic. I feel like a good tech would probably be like, “okay but this is bubble bath on top of a French ombre” or at least pointed out how it might look different

Bubble bath is an opi color and for some reason that color is really different at every salon lol I don’t understand it. I don’t know if some places are thinning it out or buying dupes and claiming it’s opi. Sometimes it’s sheer like that, other times it’s more peachy or pink. If you as for bubble bath most people should know you just mean that opi color. It’s like when I ask for funny bunny, they know what I’m asking for.

    3. It’s very sheer. You need a tinted base layer or an ombré tip to achieve what’s happening in the first pic.

Personally, I think this looks great – you have gorgeous nails.

    4. Bubble bath is the name of the polish and OPI is the brand.

How many coats did your tech apply to your nails?

    5. You probably need more coats, also this person likely has acrylic/ dip powder/ builder gel etc with a nail extension tip giving that white appearance at the end. I don think it’s a French mani like someone else said. I don’t have a pic of this specific color but I’ve done OPI light pinks almost every manicure for the last few years 😅

eta- pro tip- take a pic and put it in your notes along with the brand, color, number at the salon and the person who did it.

Another thing some manicurists do is mix shades so a more opaque color first then two coats of bubble bath for example.

TLDR: ask for dip powder in bubble bath, or an acrylic/ builder gel overlay (builder gel takes longer and the person needs expertise) first with at least 3 coats of bubble bath. If you want the white at the end you can get ombré French or nail extensions, but I don’t think you need it.

If you want another color to try, love is in the bare used to be my girl 🥰

Looks like You got two coats of OPI bubble bath, which is technically what you asked for… but it looks nothing like the pic. Sorry the nail tech didn’t care, but Next time you’re going to have to describe what you want a little better and then communicate that before you leave the salon. Like after the first coat you didn’t notice it’s obviously too sheer? You always have time to change your mind (I am a long time, full time nail tech) You aren’t a victim.
