Playlist (left-side) is a bright, “neon” green though I was not impressed. I wanted more eye-searing shade than I associate with tennis – but when I first got it, I was very disappointed. It’s slightly brighter than the L.A. Color’s Lucky I already owned, but as the neon pigment fades (which neon pigments are prone to do), it will slowly become a dupe imo.

Formula wise was also underwhelming, very patchy and I needed to do three coats. I think my expectations might have been too high but I’m still disappointed.

L.A. Colors’ Lucky (right-side) is a “pastel neon”. It has more white pigment in it and I’d describe it as “melon” color. Beautiful shade, but again the formula leaves a lot to be desired. It needs three coats and lower expectations.

Conclusion: I’m in love with this color but I’m not happy with either formula. Neither is good for nail art or stamping. I’m currently on a low-buy but will continue to search for something superior to replace both.

I find that neons of any brand behave weirdly on application. Even with thinner I feel like they’re working against me.

    2. For neon yellow-green, I think KB Shimmer Let’s Bounce has the nicest formula for getting thin even coats. Cirque Electric Daisy is more neon than Playlist with a similar but maybe slightly better formula. Atomic Polish has great neons with nice formulas.

Opaque neons tend to have a lot of pigment and titanium dioxide which makes them thick and annoying to work with. The alternative is to use a white polish base and apply neon jelly polish on top.

The most nail art I manage to do with neons are French tips and sponge gradients. They’re too gloopy to do anything intricate.

    3. the ILNP looks significantly better than the L.A. one imo

layer over white if you want it at its brightest

    4. Neons are a rough formula in general. I do think the ILNP looks a lot better in your photos, even just based on the formula alone and not the color.

Personally, I’d still pay the extra $7.50 for the ILNP one!

    5. Its a LOT more blue toned, but have you seen Emily De Molly Leave a Light On? It came to mind when you said “eye-searing.”
