Hi everyone, I’m looking for some honest opinions. I’m not a regular nail girl and I treated myself to my first ever BIAB set at a professional salon today for my holiday in 2 days.

I feel like they look really "blobby" and thick, and the cuticle area looks like they’ve already grown out. The tech used an E-file and a pusher, but the skin still looks a bit ragged and the polish is so far from the base.

When I was leaving the salon I thought that maybe it’s because my nails were really bad quality from biting the skin around them.

Scrolling through this subreddit and seeing so many gorgeous nail sets makes me feel like crying at mine 😭 I had such high hopes.

Is this just how BIAB looks on short natural nails the first time around, or is this a bad application?

Terrible application. It should be way thinner and the color looks awful tbh. I’d ask for a refund

Omg, these are some of the worst I’ve seen on here. I’m so sorry to tell you that, but that’s so badly done. I would 100% go back and either get a refund (and find someone else who’s known for their BIAB work) or get them redone.

Those are horrible. I Would never return and would ask for my money back immediately.

I think with anything that you just lay on the nail and cant really shape, most of the way it will turn out is based on the shape of the foundation you are placing it on. Your nails are shaped very round so it kinda gives it a candy look, I am not sure the look you were going for though. When doing nails this way we must first shape the nail to its desired shape and then, while applying the coats you want to have less on your brush so it will lay more evenly down . Since you cant really come back and shape this much like you would be able to with acrylics. I know it can be nerve racking ,waiting for the drying in between layers but its the patience that pays off when it comes to nails . We all learn as we do 💛

Nope. This is some terrible application 🥴. Super thick and clunky, you can see how thick on the side profile of your thumb. As this grows out you’re guna have a terrible ‘lip’ of gel around the growth area (this should actually be flush to your nail. Cuticle work leaves a whole lot to be desired too, and also how near (or not in this case) that she has painted to the cuticle.

I’m sorry you have had to pay for such a terrible set of nails. Hoping you don’t let it put you off, and can find a much more skilled tech for future sets!
