I kept reading about how the Anessa skincare milk was a Holy Grail for so many. Specifically looked for black and brown content creators applying it on camera and they kept saying "no white cast," . I excitedly got one for myself, directly from Japan no less.

And….. white cast!!! I used just under a 1/4 teaspoon amount.

Doesn't go away after drying down either.

Such a pity cos the texture and feel is lovely.

  1. If I’m looking at the right ingredients list, this has both zinc oxide and titanium oxide. Those two are guaranteed to have a white cast. There may be some skin tones/undertones on which the cast will be less prominent, but they are the exceptions.

  2. unfortunately, anything with zinc oxide or/and titanium dioxide will give you a white cast (anessa skincare milk has both).

  3. Sad for you 🙁

I think there is always going to be some degree of white cast with mineral or hybrid sunscreens (as opposed to chemical), it’s the nature of having these minerals in the formulation. The minerals used as UV barriers are literally white and opaque.

  4. I’m sorry it leaves a white cast, but I don’t think that’s what gaslighting means 🙁

A lot of mineral sunscreens do sink in eventually but I feel like Japanese sunscreens are more of a film over the face so they never do

I am brown and these two do not leave any white cast on me: Bioré Aqua Rich in the bright blue tube and Nivea Water Gel in the pump bottle.
