This one's for all the people who remember Madoka Magica out there.
I painted the color of the Soul Gem first and added basic shading and brightness with a darker red and lighter, slightly more purple pink. Then I put GAOY magnetic polish over it and magnetized it to the dome effect. Then I painted the gold frame over it. So now the gem part shines independently of the gold!
I wish the video captured this better, it's so satisfying to watch in real life.
