Hi friends, I recently shipped nail polish I destashed in bubble mailers via USPS ground advantage service (not hazmat). I bought the labels using the Paypal mailing center. One of the packages was ripped open, contents were switched, and taped shut somewhere along the way to the recipient. Instead of Cracked Backspace, she got a random, sketchy looking “mental performance shot” drink.
Obviously, she was disappointed. I refunded her already and made a USPS claim for missing contents. The claim was denied the same day on the basis that the “article contained prohibited items.”
Does anyone have experience with appealing a claim like this? Technically, they’re right, but the package was also tampered with after USPS assumed responsibility for it. They said they’re mailing me a more detailed explanation of the denial but I wanted to put this out there early.
RIP Backspaced, hopefully the thief appreciates you like we do 😂

I think you have to mail nail polish as hazmat
>Technically, they’re right
Then chances are you’re out of luck.
>but the package was also tampered with after USPS assumed responsibility for it
Yes, but were they aware it contained prohibited items?
Pretty sure there will be a note somewhere in the t&c that they don’t accept responsibility for any prohibited items.
No experience to share but this really sucks.
