I’ve been into manis & nail care for the past 1.5 years and have pretty much stuck with Mooncat. It works well for me and I found the whole world of indies overwhelming (decision paralysis!). I’m primarily a fan of magnetics, and the one from Mooncat that has most impressed me so far is The Silent Scream. A very simple color combo (black + silver), but it’s the way it magnetizes that makes it so amazing. I’m assuming this is the fine particle I’ve read about a bit on here? It has incredible depth and is so glassy & enchanting in glass bead.

Of course some of the Bee’s Knees Laquer manis I’ve seen on here have caught my eye, as they remind me of that formula. The fabled Bog Dweller and others in that family. I’m not sure many of the colors are my vibe, but for that magnetization I can be flexible lol.

I also looked at some of the Fancy Gloss magnetic toppers, but only two colors are available. Would these give similar depth? That insane glass bead?

Are there other brands or specific colors that have amazed you with these crazy depth glass bead manis?

Also – does Bee’s Knees or Fancy Gloss ever have sales I should look out for? I see that as a new customer I could get 10% off BKL, which is cool. I really should restrict myself to sales if possible as I don’t really need more polish as it is, but this fine particle magnetic has a hold on me! I made a wishlist at BKL, and while I don’t love the idea of competing for polish, I’m guessing that site is gonna get hit hard when the new bog dweller siblings are dropped later this week.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have. I’ve been so hesitant to venture out from my limited safety zone of Mooncat’s catalog, but I’d rather lessen my need to aquire as many MC bottles as possible and expand into looking for this specific magnetic formula.

*just for the sake of adding an image, I’ll attach a clip of my somewhat messy The Silent Scream mani – it looked more impressive in person, with great depth. All Mooncat products – 1x Hardcore base coat, 2x The Silent Scream, 1x Speed Demon

Mooncat has a new collection coming soon, and I’m hopeful that there will be a few of these fine particle magnetics. I know they’re expensive, but they work for me, their sale is soon, and I always grab some rewards, so I can justify it for the right colors.

BKL has an entire collection of the fine particle magnetics releasing this Friday (Bog Dweller siblings). As for sales they do run them every so often but Fancy Gloss doesn’t due to her price point already being on the lower end and offering a rewards program.

You’re not really going to be competing for polish if you just want to buy from the new BKL collection and restocks. It’s the overpours (leftover stock from a recent collection that didn’t end up being needed to cover shipping issues) that people are talking about when they talk about things selling out in seconds.

  3. I’m a magnetic fiend and strongly recommend the new Tyche collection, cracked has some great magnetic and magnetic toppers, if you want a sale some LynBDesign magnetic are really great! Moth and moon has some lovely reactive colors and ANLAC makes super lovely colors that are more sheer so you can use them as toppers! I have swatches of all of these on my instagram if you want to see them in video format! @sapphirenailgirl 🩵

  4. So I own a frak ton of Bee’s Knees, ANALAC, Glitch, LynBDesigns, Cirque Colors, ILNP, and a handful from several other brands.

What you’re looking for specifically is the fine particle magnetics. So given that, here’s some things to look out for:

    1. BKL is having a fine magnetic drop on the 17th. Please KNOW, they WILL re-release these polishes (albeit slightly different) again. Before going to their website, set a BUDGET for yourself, and do not go PAST THAT. They dupe themselves. Ok? It will be OK, you do NOT need to FOMO. Ok? (Please re-read this again)

BKL seems to cycle between fine magnetic drops, non magnetic drops, and large particle magnetic drops. The fine magnetics will return with time.

    2) ANALAC has a constant catalog, they will always bring them back, so no FOMO. I’m saying this because you’ll just want to buy everything from them, and frankly you should. Get the [Butterfly set](https://awesomenailpolish.com/collections/butterfly-collection), the[ Precious One set](https://awesomenailpolish.com/collections/anlac-precious-one), and they have a new set on pre-order that will be sheer fine mags that you can use as toppers.

    3) You’ll probably love [Habibi](https://glitchlacquer.com/products/habibi?_pos=1&_sid=338acf38b&_ss=r) from Glitch Lacquer, [By the Moonlight](https://hauntedpolish.com/products/by-the-moonlight) from Haunted Polish, [Fiery Attraction](https://www.emilydemolly.com/collections/best-sellers/products/fiery-attraction) by Emilydemolly is the overall most favored red magnetic, although I prefer [Burning Canvas](https://tychelacquer.com/products/burning-canvas?variant=43134475829307) from Tyche Lacquer.

Anyways, those would be my current recommendations for fine particle magnetics. o.o; I think I own like uh… 150-ish bottles, all magnetic, and I’ve started DIY’ing my own magnetic polish as well. I REALLY. LIKE. MAGNETICS. ^__^

A few extra thoughts. I regret my purchases of ILN and Cirque Colors. I started out with them because they were a more talked about name brand, but I never reach for them and honestly need to de-stash. Mooncat is not worth the price, and the one magnetic I bought from them doesn’t even magnetize. If I could only buy from one brand it’d be ANLAC. I now avoid BKL drops and wait for dupes from smaller/new indies to spread the money around, but I don’t regret my giant BKL stash I LOVE IT! <3 LynBDesigns has BEAUTIFUL mags, but they’re large particle. Their mags go on sale 50% off fairly often and you will not be disappointed by snagging them!

Edit: Forgot to add! A ridge filling skin toned base coat, topped by Sally Hansen insta-dri top coat (sold in the red bottle), is a GREAT BASE for fine particle magnetics! You’ll get a much smoother application, and less likely to get bubbles. ^__^ Wait as long as you can before doing a top coat on your mags, 30 to 60 minutes, the more the better for avoiding bubbles. <3

You will not be competing for polish for a new BKL collection. The fomo only comes in once people start posting their pics/videos here (which are always better than the official swatches for some reason) and a particular shade gets popular, but then there are only over pours left. Even then, they tend to bring back popular shades (like Bog Dweller) multiple times. People of course naturally get fomo if they find out about the polish later. But there were several chances to get Bog Dweller last year (and probably again with the new drop).

They also tend to release several near dupes – there have been multiple green magnetics since Bog Dweller, and like a quarter of the new collection seems to be green too.

BKL often does 15% off sales with a new drop (not sure if they are this time though).

And since you’re a Mooncat fan, check out Claire de Lune for another fine particle magnetic.

  6. Dropping this here because it’s one of this sub’s fan favorites: Scorchy (magnetic topper by Cracked) is back in stock 🙂
