Went to the same tech for application and removal. He applied the acetone for like 30 seconds tops. I have a bunch of sensitive thin spots all over my nails. Like my nails were so healthy before and I got a bunch of nicks too on my nails (see second pic)

But yeah just wondering if this is how removal is supposed to go so I can know if I want to even do this in the future lol. Also the nails looked kinda messy

Nope. The tech destroyed your nails. It looks like they overfiled your nails when they applied the gel-x and then they also almost tore them off??? What is the point of using acetone if you’re not gonna let them soak? Lol

Oh my goodness!!! I am SO sorry this happened to you. I would request a full refund and make sure that you post negative reviews so no one is subjected to what you went through.

First, the application is horrible. A nail tech should never cut your living tissue like I see on your pinky and ring fingers. Also, it appears that there were several bits of gel cured onto your skin, which is a recipe for developing lifelong gel allergies. Second, he absolutely overfiled your nails. It looks like he almost filed down into the nail bed, which can be terribly painful and not at all healthy.

You need to be as gentle with your nails as possible going forward as they grow out. I suggest using jojoba oil religiously throughout the day. I also would invest in a nail strengthener like Orly to help protect your nails as they grow out. I would absolutely stay away from gel or press ons for the time being. You could consider using regular polish on top of nail strengthener after a while, but I would let them heal a bit first. I am not a professional nail tech, just a nail polish hobbyist, so if anyone else has suggestions, I hope they chime in! Please take care of yourself and make sure that you get the word out about how your nails were so damaged by this tech. Wishing you the best.

  3. He was way too rough on your nails. He rushed it and didn’t bother to wait for the adhesive to dissolve. I haven’t had my nails done in forever but I think they’re supposed to get a bowl of acetone and put that bowl in a bowl of warm water and soak your nails until they pretty much fall off.
