-Heart Percent Dote on Mood Line Proof Lip Pencil in 08 Haze Mauve
-Romand Lip Mate Pencil in 05 Taupey Shade.
TL:DR they're both good.
-I got both on YesStyle and they're a similar price. Heart Percent is a tad cheaper. (18.59 vs 20.89 NZD).
-The Heart Percent liner also comes in a non line-proof style so I guess those are not as long-wearing. The regular Heart Percent range has more colours (20 instead of 10)
-I know this is a not-so-fair comparison given that one is closer to my lip colour so blends a bit better, so it's kind of hard to compare how much they've faded on my lips.
-Both liners are very similar in terms of how they apply. They go on with a smooth silicon-y feel. They're designed for the Asian-style blurry lip liner rather than a precise, hard line. So the tips are larger.
-I covered my entire lip for the test, half of one colour and half in the other colour.
-I also swatched them on my hand.
-I did a rub test on my hand, rubbing back and forth several times. The Romand definitely rubbed off much more.
-I previously had a poor impression of the Romand when I tried it, but it held up pretty well on my lips this time. I put this down to two things:
-The first is skin oils. Previously I was trying to overline my lips with it a little (attempting a blurry lip/contouring situation). I have naturally oily skin and I believe the oils break it down. But this time, I just put it on my lips.
-The second is other products. I also layered it with other products on top previously and I'm wondering if that broke it down too. Need to experiment more.
-I wasn't able to do a full day test, only a few hours. Both liners survived some food and drinks. Wear testing for longer, and layering with different products would have to be another set of experiments…
Overall happy with both although I'm not sure I can pull off the Taupey colour of the Romand and find a combo that pleases me, but hey, I'm experimenting.
I would love to hear about any recommendations for how to use the lip liners best. 🫶
