Hit two firsts last night with one polish: first green 💚 and first BKL magnetic Believing Something Does Not Make It True. I’ve read here that the fine particle magnetics can be tricky and wonder if anyone can help me figure out how to improve my application. / My left thumb (1st pic) looks especially strange when compared to my right thumb (2nd pic). Kinda wavey/stripey? / Also weirdness in ring finger, like a ring or halo at the tip of the nail (3rd and 4th pics) / My nails are relatively smooth and don’t have dents so I’m not sure why the glass bead would wonk out 🥴 / Product list: / base coat: Essie Strong start / 1x thin coat BKL Believing Something Does Not Make It True / 1x thicker coat BKL BSDNMIT magnetized glass bead style with 5D spinner + horseshoe / top coat: Essie Gel Couture

Ugh, sorry about formatting, I misunderstood the backslash situation
Edited to add that top coat was magnetized the same way, 90 secs/nail for both the 2nd colour coat and top coat
It looks like your finger was positioned differently between pics 1&2. Like your first thumb was centered and flat and your second thumb was tilted downwards
Commenting to check back, I just placed my first BKL order yesterday and would like some tips!
It could be the top coat formula. I have been using mooncat speed demon but I think this sub’s consensus that sally hansen instant dry in the red bottle is the best
I just used a BKL fine particle nail polish yesterday, and I had the same issue! I think it might be from overworking the top coat, like using too many strokes to put it on. I used the Sally Hansen red bottle top coat.
I feel like a wonky top coat can cause this issue. Is your top coat thick? (I’ve never used Essie Gel couture). Adding some thinner to my top coat usually helps with this issue. Did the glass bead look fine before the top coat? I also have noticed that waiting awhile before applying the top coat helps (like, 30+ min).
I get this after applying quick dry topcoat with some magnetic formulas. Slower drying topcoats don’t seem to cause the same issue, although they’re less convenient!
