I bought this polish with extremely low expectations after seeing so many bad reviews about it basically being a clear polish – I thought maybe I'd use it as a topper to add a touch of yellow into other colors. I tried it on over my bare nail first, though, and was kinda floored??

It's incredibly sheer, don't get me wrong, but definitely buildable in three coats into this relatively bright, transparent, glassy color. It makes me think of lemon hard candy every time I look at my nails.

I don't know if they updated the formula a smidge after all the bad reviews, or if they're just meant to be used on short, light-toned, less-stained nails like mine (probably), but I'm definitely very happy I gave this one a shot. It also works beautifully to add a nice hint of yellow into my blue-leaning greens and red-leaning oranges.

Products used: Nailtiques Formula 1 base coat
    Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Luminous Drops”
Sally Hansen red bottle top coat

I also sandwiched in a layer of top coat between the second and third layers, like I always do with polishes that take more than two coats, to make sure the final result would dry nicely.

In my first swatch I didn’t do this and the polish ended up being so soft and thick that I decided to try out that gel-style 3-D texture art that everyone is always trying to do with polish – and I think it worked pretty well. I’ll probably try that again as part of a full mani when I buy the green shade 👌

  2. I remember hearing that the scent was pretty strong and overwhelming. Did you find it super scented?

  3. That looks like pee 😥 I don’t like the texture of these insta dri mani, it doesn’t make the jelly as satisfying
