REVIEW:
**26. Nailed It!** – Nailed It has so many pretty polishes that it can be a bit overwhelming. My favorite that I have worn so far is called High Roller from PPU rewind. I took a chance on it because I couldn’t find any swatch videos and I was blown away in person. The shimmer is intense! They also do a lot of flakies and the one I tried called Cozy Little Comforts was a surprise love.
**25. Paint It Pretty Polish** – I’ve tried one polish so far and I was blown away by it! Kiss This Guy is so shimmery and shifty and intense. It’s hard to gush about a brand based on one polish, but my experience with this shade was so positive and I am genuinely looking forward to trying this brand again.
**24. Sassy Cats** – I’m not a fan of the brush, I’ll get that out of the way, but it won’t be challenging to replace it. I am really impressed by this brand! I think they do shimmers really well, I saw many color combinations come out this year and although they all intrigued me, I had a limited budget. Fish Jelly from June 2023 PPU was especially beautiful. The shimmer was so intense and the formula was very easy to work with. The other polish I am showing is called 1987 and is magnetic. I was sent it by mistake and decided to give it a try. Mind blown!!! I now understand the hype about magnetics. I will say that I’m not drawn to every polish this brand makes, but when I do see one that intrigues me, I really end up liking it.
**23. Different Dimensions** – Another one that I am ranking based on just one polish…it’s my list so it is what it is! You’re So Brewtiful is 100% making it on my favorite polish of the year list. One of the best indie formulas I tried, it self-leveled really well and is just gorgeous. This brand hasn’t been around much lately, but I hope they don’t close completely because I want more!
**22. Monarch Lacquer** – A new brand from a maker that had a brand previously with a friend. I’ve been following along to see what they come out with in collabs like PPU and solo. I’ve tried two polishes and really enjoyed them. The first I won because the maker chose my name suggestion. When I put it on my nails I was honestly blown away by the glow and the depth of the flakies. This polish converted me into a flakie lover!
**21. Painted Polish** – 2023 has been the year of new indie brands and the year of new finishes that I love. I’ve mentioned multichromes, magnetics, and flakies, and now I’m going to talk about CRELLIES! Wow. Where have they been all my life?!?! I remember watching Miss Holly Berries on youtube about 10 years ago and she would always rave about crelly polishes. At the time I thought “meh, it’s like a cream and a glitter I’m sure it’s nice.” Nah. It’s way more than nice. Though I only have 1 Painted Polish that I have tried so far, I was so impressed by this polish. Crellies are much softer of a look than cream + topper and I can’t get enough. I want them all!
**20. Moonshine Mani** – I only bought two from this brand this year and I wish I could have bought dozens more!! (Okay, not really because I’m trying to be more thoughtful with my purchasing) I saw so many pretty polishes every time I browsed the MM website and I wish I could have tried a few more. I’m showing off a flakie that I wore on Thanksgiving called Who Makes the Pie? It’s one of the most unique color combinations I’ve seen. The blue iridescent flakies against the orangey brown base blew my mind with how pretty it is! Next year I want to get some of the polishes from the Project Dupe It line where the maker dupes popular discontinued mainstream polishes.
**19. DAM Nail Polish** – Dam makes some of the prettiest polishes I have ever seen! I see people on Instagram currently unboxing the advent calendar and I am green with envy. My personal favorite that I tried this year is Mr. Golden Sun and was a custom created for fans of the Yellow Lovers facebook group. I’m so glad I snagged one. The shimmer is gorgeous! I wish I had the funds to buy more Dam polish.
**18. Kathleen & Co** – I bought a lot from this brand and wore a few so far. The formula has been consistently nice, the shades are beautiful and the swatches are accurate. I really enjoyed seeing what this brand came out with this year. I want to showcase the shade “Haunted AF” from September 2023 PPU. This polish single handedly made me fall in love with multichromes. I could not believe what I was seeing! The pink/purple/blue shift was mesmerizing. There is a version of me in the multiverse that bought 40 bottles of this polish and will only wear this shade for the rest of my life no matter the season or occasion.
