Got my nails done today and I honestly hate the design 😭 The shape and base are actually fine, it’s just the look that’s really not me.
The thing is,I actually love the salon and I’m usually always super happy with my nails there. I think this time the girl just got a bit more creative than I expected, and it’s just not my style at all. (Beige cat eye on both middle fingers, so many shades of red, the cherry randomly)
Now I’m stuck: I really don’t want to go back and say I don’t like them (it just feels awkward), but I’m also not sure if going to a different salon to have them fixed is the best idea.
Ideally I’d just want them to file off the design and do something simple like a French, without removing the whole set—but I don’t know if that’s realistic or if most salons will insist on a full redo.
So I guess my questions are:
– Is it normal to go to a different salon just to fix a design you don’t like?
– Will most nail techs work over another salon’s set?
– Is it worth trying to keep the base, or should I just remove everything and start fresh?
Would love to hear what you’d do in this situation 🙏

Totally get why you feel that way, the base and shape look nice but the design is a bit all over the place style-wise.
Honestly, the best option is going back to the same salon. It might feel awkward, but most techs prefer fixing it rather than having you leave unhappy. You can just say it’s not your style and you’d like something simpler.
It should definitely be possible to file off the design and do something like a French without removing the whole set, unless the structure underneath has issues.
Going to another salon is also fine, but some techs don’t like working over someone else’s work, so they might suggest a full removal.
Just go back to the same salon, expect to pay for new polish and/or tip if appropriate since there’s nothing actually wrong with them. For what it’s worth I think they’re really cute, just busy. I like it but I understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
